Obituary for Beverly I. Gilbert

Beverly I.  Gilbert
Gilbert, Beverly Irene (nee Brown) - 74, beloved wife of LeRoy, mother to Terri, Wendy, and Mark, grandmother to Tia, Elizabeth, Anna, and McKenna, and sister to Don, passed away on August 11, 2016, surrounded by family.

Beverly was born September 2, 1941 in Atlantic City, NJ to Anna Schoen Brown and Leroy Merrill Brown. Beverly graduated from Pleasantville High School in 1958, and graduated from the Nursing School of Pennsylvania Hospital. She married LeRoy (Lee) Gilbert in 1960 and had three children. They have resided in Somers Point since 1968.

Beverly was very active in her community serving on the local PTA and school board when her children were younger. She co-founded the Atlantic County Women’s Center and served as the Executive Director for over 20 years. Beverly also served on several boards. She was a member of the Atlantic County Women’s Hall of Fame, and served on its board. More recently she volunteered with the AARP Tax Aide Program, serving as Site Coordinator this past tax season.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, LeRoy L. Gilbert, Jr.; daughters Terri Lynn Gilbert and Wendy Ann Gilbert (Ron Voigt); son Mark LeRoy Gilbert (Lissa Irvin); granddaughters Tia Irene Gilbert, Elizabeth Gilbert Voigt, Anna Lee Voigt, and McKenna Irvin; brother W. Donald Brown (Jeri); and numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews, great-grand nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 16th at 11:00am at Adams-Perfect Funeral Home, 1650 New Road, Northfield. A viewing will be held from 9:30am until the time of the service. Burial will follow in Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery, Estell Manor.
