John Harold Humphreys, Jr., age 56 passed away on February 10, 2018. Residing in Egg Harbor Township, John worked for the Navy Public Works Center in NE Philadelphia. He was also a Command Sergeant Major for the New Jersey Army National Guard with 40 years of service. John served several tours of active duty after 9/11 in support of Operation Noble Eagle and Operation Enduring Freedom and was deployed to Afghanistan in 2010. He was the Commander of VFW District 16 as well as the Past Commander of the Cardiff Memorial Post 8098 and the Past President of the Enlisted Association of the National Guard of New Jersey. In his spare time he was an avid carpenter and enjoyed camping with his family and friends as well as golfing and hunting.
John is predeceased by his parents, John & Evelyn Humphreys and is survived by his loving wife, Leonora (Wagner), his children; Joshua Humphreys, Jennifer Bergeron, John Humphreys III, Cynthia Humphreys, Crystal Humphreys and six grandchildren, his sister, Donna Braun (Steve), brothers; Larry Burns and George Humphreys, along with many nieces and nephews.
The Viewing will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2018 from 9am til 11am followed by the funeral at Adams-Perfect Funeral Home 1650 New Road, Northfield, NJ 08225. The burial will be at the Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery in Estell Manor. In lieu of flowers, donate to Vets Haven South in Winslow or the Vineland Veteran's Home or St. Jude's Hospital.
