Obituary for Michael Robert Eyler Sr.

Michael Robert Eyler Sr.
Michael R. Eyler, Sr.
02/23/1948 - 04/19/2018 “There’s heroes and there’s legends. Heroes get remembered but legends never die. Follow your heart (kid) and you’ll never go wrong.” – The Sandlot claims this quote, but Mike Eyler exemplifies it.

We celebrate Michael R. Eyler, Sr. who lived a legendary life - The Greatest Game Ever Played. Mike was at home and peacefully went to Heaven’s 19th hole on April 19, 2018.

Our Mike was born on February 23, 1948 in Washington DC to Robert L. Eyler and Rita (McCarthy). With the US Army, the family made their home throughout the US and abroad for the first 14 years of Mike’s life. He graduated from St. James’ High School in Chester, PA, and attended Kings College in Wilks-Barre, PA.

Mike married, and raised two children in Ridley Park, PA. He improved operations, procedures, individuals and teams during his 25 years with Philadelphia Electric Company (PECO) and later The Hackett-Eyler Group, Comar, and Wheaton Industries.

He later found unFROGettable love with Joanne, living together in Chesapeake City, MD, Ocean City, NJ, and most recently, Egg Harbor Township, NJ. They enjoyed more than 25 wonderful years filled with music, love, laughter, beaches, sunsets, food, friends and family.

Mike was a most generous, caring, Christian man and will be forever loved and remembered by his family: wife Joanne (Hackett), former wife Gael (Harrington), daughter Lisa Wenerd (& Dave), son Michael (& Kelli), grandchildren Meagan, DJ, Hanna, Bob, Katie, Sean, great-grandchildren Leila and Jason, sisters Suzy and Patti, sister-in-law Annell, and some “knucklehead” nieces & nephews. Mike is now reunited with his parents, and brother Randy.

To honor Mike’s generosity, consider making a donation to the Luekemia & Lymphoma Society (www.lls.org) or the American Heart Association (www.heart.org)

“There’s no crying in baseball.” We allow ourselves to shed tears of love and gratitude that we are fortunate enough to love & be loved by Mike Eyler. He’s Hall of Fame in our book!

A Celebration of Mike’s life & legacy is being planned by the family.
